Our jobs are flowing overseas as fast as middle east oil flows into our ports. Our nations infrastructure is crumbling beneath us. The 'War Against Terror' is nothing more than a weapon of mass distraction. So, you don't mind paying for the WalMArt employees health care? My, so generous! Oh, but wait! You say you don't want your hard earned tax dollars paying for thier welfare, eh? People like you want everyone to work but, don't think they should be paid a decent wage? What about the 60,000+ auto workers that are about to get laid off by GM and Ford? Should they buck up and go work at WalMart if they have to or, should they just stay home and live off the government? They'd be stupid and lazy to go work at WalMart... right? What about the fast-food workers? The waitresses? The hotel workers? etc etc etc? I bet they're all stupid and lazy too! I know, let's start a campaign to get all of the stupid, lazy, unskilled workers in this country to just stay home! That'd do the trick! Of course, you'd have to flip your own burgers, make your own beds, bus your own tables, etc etc etc but, that's not a problem, is it? Heck no! Then, all of those unemployed people will have more time to go to college and then compete with you for your job!!! Hooray! So, what do you think your salary would be if everyone in this country was college educated and wanted to do what you folks do? $5.15/hr? Sounds about right. Better yet, let's just hire foreigners to do all that work! Man, that'll show those stupid WalMart employees! It's attitudes like yours that are ruining this country. Know this, so go the WalMart employees, so goes the rest of the country. You think your college education will save you from the chopping block if your employer finds that they can hire some Indians to do you job for a fraction of your salary? Think again. There isn't anything you can do that some Indian, or Chinaman or Mexican couldn't do for less. And, that's where we're heading in a hurry. It's ok for the CEO of GM to make $170 million per year for running the company into the ground but, God forbid the autoworkers would want to collect on the pensions they worked for 30-40 yrs to collect. Give me a break.
Ending up working at Wal-Mart is a choice, just like everything else in life. You have a choice to get an education, you have a choice to work hard and earn a good job. Anyone who thinks that a "living wage and healthcare" are rights is a dumbass and probably will end up making minimum wage and scraping by. Too many people these days wnat everything but are willing to work for nothing. Marke the tough choice and better yourself. Don't wait for it to be handed to you.
If you are dumb enough to have to work at Wal-Mart then you get what you deserve. At age 30 I didn't have $50 to my name, rode a bike to work 10 miles each way, and went to a state college on student loans. Now I make $60 k per year. If you're lazy or stupid, you'll end up at Wal-mart. Too bad for you.
Fuck Wal-Mart. Those Walton bastards are reportedly worth a combined 122 billion dollars. We're talking about 5 or 6 people here! Who on Earth needs that much money that they can't pay their workers a living wage and health care costs. We are quickly heading back to the 'Guilded Age' where you had extremely wealthy families whose fortunes were built on the backs of cheap labor while the rest of us were left to fight over the scraps. We have to fight, as our grandfather and great-grandfathers did when they organized themselves and fought for popular reforms. And, for all of you 'patriots' out there that decry socialism, know that there would be no middle class today if it were not for the New Deal. So, as you callously, and quickly toss aside the entitlement programs that made this country what it is today, at least stop for a moment to thank those that came before you who made you job worth working... for the time being, anyway.
